Member Information
Categories of membership are available to anyone,
including students, engaged in or affiliated with the profession of
engineering and/or surveying. Most members of NMSPE are Professional
Engineers, but registration is not a prerequisite for membership.
On-line applications are available for completion at the
National Society of Professional
Engineers homepage. This membership includes your membership with the
National Society, the State Society, and your local Chapter.
Membership in
the State and Chapter only are available on a limited basis.

Membership in the New Mexico Society and National Society of Professional
Engineers provides numerous benefits. The following listing is just a
sampling of professional and personal opportunities that accompany
membership:

Registration: promotion to nonlicensed engineers and works to
enforce state registration laws.

Information: you will receive monthly publications from the
state - New Mexico Professional Engineer (NMPE), and national
members - Engineering Times, which will keep you up to date on
professional issues and current events.

|
Professional Image: NMSPE and NSPE sponsored programs like
National Engineers Week and MATHCOUNTS enhance your profession's public
image.
|
|
Networking: membership in NMSPE and NSPE gives you the
opportunity to make valuable personal and professional contacts while
meeting engineers from all disciplines and management levels.
|
|
Lobbying: your views on critical issues facing your
profession are presented to your elected officials in Congress and your
state legislature.
|
|
Continuing Education: various seminars and classes which
offer Professional Development Hours (PDH) are available on many
subjects to keep your skills current. NMSPE offers three signature
events each year that will cover your 15 hours of required PDH's in New
Mexico.

|
Annual Meeting: all members are invited to attend the annual
meeting which brings engineers across the state together and provides
interesting and valuable seminars to promote continuing education and
career enhancement.

Chapter Meetings: the state is divided into five chapters
according to location. Each chapter has elected officials which sponsor
monthly meetings to discuss current events and promote member activities
throughout the state.
